  • maybe I'm a nut, maybe it's about the clay and not about the shape of the vessel, but cooking in a clay pot over a gas stove makes very little sense to me. If you're cooking on an open fire, sure, but on a stove? :P

  • @greatdanechick2 If you add salt at the front-end of the cooking, the beans might not hydrate as well and the skins might become tough. If you're not going to cook the beans in their soaking water, you may salt the soaking liquid. My best results have typically come from seasoning the bean liquor to taste at the end.

  • i am learning to cook beans as a means to steward God's money well. Your video was indeed jolly - i like the tunes! Tappin my foot !

Some people say to add salt later - why is this? I cook beans in a crockpot as natural gas is more expensive for us right now. I add the salt at the beginning and they turn out great. Anyone know why salt should be added later? I need more schoolin' : )

  • yummy
