Snaking is a technique used to build speed not normally attainable in any given craft. It involves shifting your craft back and forth very quickly with the L and R triggers, using the lateral inertia to build speed and exceed your craft's normal top speed.
People can top out at around 15-1600 KM/h depending on what they're driving (Fat Shark and Black Bull particularly set world records while snaking).

I find the racing/taking someone out to be the easier ones, and the survive or collect the orbs to be the hard ones. The one where you rescue Jody Summer, the first one, and the one where you race for Silver Neelson are the hardest for me. This one is actually pretty fun.

been there done that.
it's stupidly hard but it's doable.
I'm having problems redoing the other ones I've done in the past on very hard though.

To be short: It increases your speed, if done corretly.
To be a bit longer: The more acceleration you use in your settings, the less speed you loose when turning. With full acceleration, though, you gain speed by turning (if you use both the control stick and the side-buttons). So moving like a snake will increase your speed if you have full acceleration settings :)

max acceleration is what you need in order to snake properly
