Yamaha DX7 Diagnostic Mode for a case mod

A friend gave up his DX7 to me, he didn't want to look at it any longer. I already have 2, and since this one was non-expanded, i decided to rip the goodies out and give new life to an old Bosch Radio Case with a case mod. I needed to run Diagnostics mode; before I hooked up the Pitch and Mod wheels, I was getting some random pitch changes and mod adjustments - the params were jumping all over the place. After I got the P/M wheels set up, all was good... and needed to access this mode to check.

*Press & Hold 'Function" AND press 16 & 32; all at the same time. if it doesn't work, keep doing this until you see the Enter Test Mode? prompt. Then Yes to enter this mode.

WARNING; running this mode, esp. RAM Test WILL WIPE YOUR INTERNAL PATCHES. Be certain to backup to a RAM cart or by sysex dump so you don't lose your hours of programming.

Test 1: Emits a test tone, prompts user to 'Adjust VR3', I didn't fool with this, unless you're having level problems I suggest to leave this alone.
Test 2: tests all LED segment and LCD elements for dead pixels. Check cables if problems arise first!
Test 3: Switch Test. Prompts user to press all control panel buttons in sequence. If you miss a button, the display says "Check LED' to see what you must press next.
Test 4: checks the Keyboard's keys
Test 5 A/D: Checks Data Slider, Pitch and Mod wheels data
Test 6-8; Checks Cartridge R/W Functions
Test 9; Tests RAM (**this WILL WIPE YOUR PRESETS**)
Test 10: ROM Check
Test 11: Frequency Response test - sounds test tones in ascending scale.
