BA 744 BOM-LHR

One of the rare videos of Bombay (Mumbai) airport. I apologise for the video quality as this was shot with a digital camera (Canon A520)

Here are some of the salient features of this video.

A. Pushback and Taxi
B. Takeoff from Runway 27.
C. Gives you a glimpse of Bombay's terminal operations during the day.
D. Allows you to see both the domestic as well as international terminals. (The domestic terminals 1A and 1B can be seen during rotation)
E. Gives you a brief glimpse of a small aerodrome named Juhu Aerodrome (VAJJ) used for light commercial aviation as well as by the military on certain occasions. [ JAL and BOAC landed there by accident many years ago ]

Mate, is it alright to operate a digital camera during take-off and landing? Or do you have to do it in secret?

The severity of the act varies from airline to airline and from crew to crew. Some don't care at all, others seem to to think of it as a gross violation.

Try the following:

a. Get a seat closer to the end of the plane.

b. Put the device on silent. No beeps!

c. Wait till the aircraft has started moving and the cabin crew are seated.

If caught, you can argue that it isn't a wireless transmitter/receiver - but that approach might result in bad service for the rest of the flight!

@balalogic When I was there there was no functioning tax free shop. Seems not to be a hub airport, transit facilities non existing but staff is friendly.

@am1966ath, I have personally seen dogs on the taxiway! I didn't have my camera then though! It would have made for an interesting video!

@balalogic the Mumbai airport is situated in the middle of a huge slum, with only a brick wall in between. Sometimes animals and people get on the runway.
