The great Canadian diva sings an American lullaby -- twice! Once from her classic LP of 1967, "A Charm of Lullabies", and again in 1998 on an album titled simply "Lullabies". This mother of us all, musically speaking -- she debuted at the Met in 1975 as Erda -- was a real singer!

Here is a link to my Forrester playlist: http://www.youtube.com/user/kadoguy2006#grid/user/C3C5E46CF7371F7D

This beloved song was composed by Gladys Rich in 1932.

I understand that a multi-box set is soon to be released from the CBC archives including many rare Forrester treasures.

  • yes, her early Charm of Lullabies album is a classic. Why it has not yet been re-issued I do not know!

  • Thank you for these lovelies. I loved her Lullaby album. And thanks for a photo of the mature Maureen.

  • I had no idea that she recorded this back in 1967! I know the more recent recording, though. Very nice! Thanks for posting.
