Where I attend, we have an issue with singing after the fanfare. The way I look at it, you've just set it up so that:
a) You can start singing.
or
b) You can continue with the introduction.

I've been playing for 14 years now and i've never had an issue with it. However my congregations have been accustomed to the fanfare. Maybe some churches don't sing it very often and get a little confused by it.

the fanfare IS the introduction...iv played for church for about 17 years and never noticed ppl singing the intro.
