FINALLY! Here's my son's "can't you do any rock songs" request! That cutie is my daughter (very proud mom, here).
This video is not in true ASL, although it should be - and will be when I can update it accurately. It is hard to translate songs into ASL because it is a true language just as English is; therefore, ASL is not in English word order. It's difficult to not lose the meaning and rhythm of the song. There are many that can do it; I am a working my way there. It was my own interpretation of this fun song at the time. I hope it inspires you.

[LYRICS BELOW]
I am not deaf. I was inspired to learn from my cousin & my ASL instructor, both of whom are deaf, as well as from a friend's child. I am not an interpreter, although that may be have a long way to go to become even close to fluent in ASL, so I admire those that are. Take classes at your local college, find on-line resources or books if there are none nearby. Most importantly, the BEST way to learn is to talk with someone who is deaf.

I can't please everyone and I will never be a perfect signer because I am not deaf. However, I am making the effort to communicate on all levels in a way that I truly enjoy - in the most beautiful language.

All I know is what I am reading from all of you: people who were touched to see a beautiful visual aspect put to their special song. That it helped express their love, or let go of one; deal with the loss of a grandparent, a friend; recall their faith; start a new life; their wedding song; courageously battle disease as they fight for their life; bravely fight to protect ours... Countless people asking how & where they can learn ASL (college classes near you, on-line resources, or most importantly, talk with someone who is deaf). These are the reasons I'm doing this, and will continue...Thank you so much for the support.
My best,
~Lauren
