But Iowahawk (iowahawk.typepad.com) did a little addition, and armed with these statistics Bill and the 'Hawk blow a hole in the "hoarding" lie big enough to fit a documentary filmmaker through.

Thats the thing, you and I are totally different from other people. I would do the same exact thing. But can we say for the next person after us and so on? We cant speak for them and if you use that point of view it becomes apparent. I'm sorry but with all the shit my faith in humanity is at an all time low. The evil outweighs the good and belief that a distribution of wealth (that is not equal) will change that nature is well impossible. Eliminate the want and perhaps we can live better.

I wonder how bad wealth inequality will have to get before middle class conservatives connect the dots and begin to realize the only reason they're taking home $7.50/hour, had their health insurance benefits eliminated and retirement fund stolen by Wall St was so that a corrupt CEO or hedge fund manager could raise their salary from $30,000,000 to $60,000,000 per year.

I think you've got human nature wrong. If I had a free 4K a month, I'd spend MORE time taking classes and bettering myself. I'd be tinkering in my workshop making new things. I'd do more painting and music. Are there people who would take the money and party? Of course. But there would also be people who invent, research, and create revolutionary ideas that never would have seen the light of day because those people used to have to waste their time and effort on basic survival.

You know, if theres one invention I'd want to be created would be the Star Trek Replicator. With that invention wants and needs would easily met without the idea of currency. A guaranteed income is great, but the problem is complacency it's human nature not to want more if we're content. I mean if I got 4k a month I wouldn't want to go to school or better myself. I'd just be hanging out and partying until the next check. Struggle builds character and gives people the want to be better.

I've always thought the idea of guaranteed income was great. It provides the basic necessities of life so that people don't have to waste their energy surviving and can focus on education, skills, and innovation - all vital market drivers. The only reason I never bring it up is because I'm pretty sure I'll never see it implemented in my lifetime, so I work in the closest framework we have in the current system. I think we have the same economic mentor, we just interpret the ideas differently.
