CCL: Reading the Future: Ryan Rolfe

The Canadian Council on Learnings new Reading the Future report provides Canada's first projections of adult literacy levels, through to 2031; an unprecedented look at the face of low literacy; and effective approaches to improve literacy among six identified groups.

Success stories: Turning the page on low literacy is a video series where the profiled adults explain what motivated them to improve their literacy skills and how that decision has changed their lives. Ryan received good grades as an elementary school student. However, his tumultuous teen years changed his educational route and saw him heading down a dangerous path. Now 23, this Moncton native is upgrading his literacy skills to become an electrical engineering technican. He hopes to one day fund his three childrens post-secondary education.
