Part 1 Metamorphic Rocks 8-Part1
•Heat,pressure and fluids processes
•Metamorphic types; Gniess, Schists, Slate, Serpentine, Garnets
•Basalt Meta equiv. Amphibolite
•Limestone Meta equiv. Marble
•Sandstone Meta equiv. Quartzite
•Contact metamorphism
•Contraction cracks, new minerals formed
The layering is not from the original sedimentary rock in that gneiss at all!!
This is called mono-minerallic banding and is where the minerals seperate into different bands as gneiss is such high grade.
