**** http://www.Youtube.com/CArthurs *** Ottawa, Ontario EMS workers respond to a pedestrian that was hit while crossing Carling Ave at the corner of Broadview on October 9th 2009
@Pmedic49 You need new material man. The sooner you ball baby paramedics realize Fire isn't going anywhere the less stress you'll carry around on your shoulders everyday. But I guess the passive aggressive paranoid paramedic is here to stay. Too bad......
@iPLAYdrumz1 most likely because thats how they found him when they arrived. and they would want to move him around as little as possible to prevent further injury. plus notice when they put him on the backboard, they simply lay him back on it and slide him up. it's a lot less work and less room for potential further injury then laying him on the ground, rolling him over, then rolling him back.
...If they only drove over his foot─ don't immobilize him. If you suspect a spinal injury─ have someone manually stabilize his c-spine right from the beginning. No sense of urgency at all. It probably looks impressive to the bystander though.
Without wanting to be one of those critics that appear on all EMS clips, this was really a very half-hearted management of the patient. There was way too much resources available (which is fine), which was not utilized. The FD could have made the scene safe with road cones, and helped move and immobilize the patient faster. While the paramedic seems to have no critical reasoning skills himself...
@MrProfire What is going somewhere is your budget, to EMS.
