@mramazing31 You gave that fella a nice response which he didn't deserve. That said, it would be a challenging & interesting project to see if one could design and build a steam locomotive capable of doing the job. It should be possible, given that the locomotive is built to scale and also given the track layout would certainly be less than scale mileage. One could "cheat" and use electricity for the fuel (to avoid the problem of fumes) but steam to drive the wheels. Interesting.

no sound and the damn thing doesn't even run..... lame

THE LEGENDARY BIG BOY!!!!

@DavidBromage Yes, it was great. Remember, the custom frames gave the U-boats the power and weight needed to do the job.

The longest model train ever run was 1,103 cars hauled by Jim Fitzgerald's custom built "Cotton Brutes" at an NTRAK convention in the early 1980s.

Not even steam. I thought that you lot would stop buying stupid plastic trains in favour for engines powered with real steam. Why don't you it really boggles me

@hancockshire Well you see, there are 44 engines controlled by 22 controllers on this train. There are grades of almost 3 percent and at the same time each set of 2 locomotives must pull 25 articulated well cars with containers. Each locomotive must respond immediately as well, steam takes time. The engine would also run out of water/ fuel within half a lap around this railroad. Steam would be hard to run on this railroad even without a 1,300 foot train.
