Artis Wodehouse recorded live in concert 4/12/10 at Merkin Hall, New York City playing the Prelude from Louis Vierne's last composition, Messe basse pour les défunts (low Mass for the Departed) for organ or harmonium, op. 62 (1934) on her 1903 Mustel Art Harmonium.

  • At one time I collected and restored reed organs and was very fortunate to have acquired a Mustel in working order. (The one I had lacked the Prolongment.) Despite, and as a concert Organist myself, it was the closest in sound to an actual Pipe Organ. And for it, I composed my "Lyric Suite" though when published through Belwin along with my "French Suite," was for Pipe Organ Manuals only. Wish I still had it. :-(

  • A most interesting piece played with great expression.

  • great use of the expression stop!
