Most old Scottish fiddlers considered themselves also violinists. Among them Scott Skinner, the composer of Tullochgorum's variations, included on his book, The Scottish Violinist.

He's always been one of the best of the younger generation of Celtic musicians, although there's ALOT of immensly talented fiddlers in Cape Breton who get no recognition at all. And it's called a fiddle in Celtic music, not a violin.
