On Monday, July 21, Bailey Hanks, a 20-year-old singer, dancer, and former beauty queen from Anderson, South Carolina, was named as the new Elle Woods in the Broadway musical Legally Blonde on the final episode of MTVs Legally Blonde: The Musical: The Search for Elle Woods. But Hanks had actually found out she had gotten the part three months earlier and has spent the last few weeks preparing for her Broadway debut on Wednesday, July 23. TheaterMania recently sat down with the exuberant Hanks at world-famous Sardi's restaurant for a wide-ranging conversation that included everything from keeping that secret to getting rid of her Southern accent, advice from original Elle, Laura Bell Bundy, working with co-stars Christian Borle and Richard H. Blake, and her favorite costumes, colors, and Broadway shows.

@berryzoa Let me tell you, im about as reliable as unofficial sources for this show gets. The show was dated for closing before bailey was even cast. Its the Palace Theatre, its one of the main theatres you see in NYC. the ticket sales were fluctuating it was just time. Laura Bell was really losing her voice (shes okay now) so she just had to stop, her contract was extended (twice i think)

She seems SO sweet and I can tell she really loves the character of Elle Woods. Honestly I like Laura Bell Bundy's rendition of Elle Woods better than her's but I also saw Laura Bell Bundy's version 1st. Everyone likes the original better, that's not Bailey's fault. She did an awesome job, too!

okay people. honestly, I love Laura Bell Bundy and I don't like this girl, but that doesn't mean you should call her a cunt and stuff just because you wanted somebody else to win. That's just pure immaturity.
