Los Dug Dug's - Smog

This is a great band from Durango, Durango, Mexico. They were quite popular in the late 60's through the 70's. The featured song is taken from their 1972 album of the same name.
The band lineup was comprised of:
Jorge de la Torre (vocals), Armando Nava (keyboards), Gustavo Garayzar (guitars), Genero Garcia (bass), Jorge Torres Aguayo (drums)
It took awhile to search down all the images used in my video...but it was a lot of fun!

Actually, their reference to "cooking it" pertains to making tea or baking it in cake/brownies. Which most of us know is hardly "anti-pot". Maybe those record company executives bit off more than they could chew, Lol.

I agree, my friend, but i wanna make myself clear: the cooking reference you mentioned is actually mine hehe... in the lyric, the singer's talking 'bout the evils of pollution, but he somehow equates it in the second verse to smoking pot!! at the end he states, 'marihuna will do you no good, that much I know'. man, mexico's such a conservative country. i'm sure these guys wanted to cut a record so bad they succumbed to society's pressure. hope they were lying haha

I've spent a lot of time there, and my wife is Mexican (though her parents are from Serbia...go figure). Many changes over the last 40 years. I had to listen to the lyrics once more. I'm quite sure this is one of the most hypocritical songs I have ever heard, Lol. They no doubt smoked a shit load of weed while riding the pasero on the way to the studio. Then put on their "nice guy" faces for the recording sessions :)

A great little band? ...A FUCKIN' GREAT KICKASS SICK MUTHERFUKIN' BAND!!you mean...DUG DUGS Y YA !!! Ahora nos ponen puro pinche "Pasito Duranguense" goddamit!! I NEED MORE DUG DUGS!!! No se pueden comparar con Black Sabbath porque su sonido es diferente pero no menos impactante. Pasara otro sol y otra luna para que haya otros DUG DUGS, SPIDERS, NAUHATL o algun otro grupo GRUEXXO. En TOtonaca land simplemente no hay infraestructura para el Rock. Mana, y demas es PopRock comercializado desechable
