Scientist Jim Hansen Talks Climate Change (2009.05.26)

Jim Hansen has been at the center of the climate change debate since the early Eighties as both a prominent scientist and spokesman alerting the public to the threats and uncertainties of global climate change.

The head of NASA's Goddard Institute for Space Studies, Hansen studies radiative transfer in planetary atmospheres related to global change on Earth.

He is currently an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences at Columbia University.

@BjornPalmen Yes, he should talk about Earth because he is an expert on both Earth and other planets! And that is a very good knowledge to have when it comes to this subject.

It's not new, no. but many in the US(maybe you too?) don't even believe in global warming so he tries to express how it works. This about the isotherm was new to me actually. This is not "scare propaganda", it is fact. Wrong? they predicted changes that came much earlier so it's not nonsense.

There is nothing new, only repetition of earlier scare propaganda. "Climate models are more sluggish than the real world has turned out to be" (10:30). Complete nonsense.

I did not find any real knowledge in this. That is why I protested.

It was very brave of James to 'come out' in '88.

Hell even Margaret Thatcher stood up and changed British environment policy. Back then, James was considered the most conservative of climate researchers frustrating the environmentalist movement by his careful steady as you go research which took longer that they wanted.
