It's long been believed that the Mayan civilization had some sort of outside influence since they were so amazingly advanced for their time. Many believe that aliens from another world were present at some point assisting the Mayans, though there's never been any proof of such a thing ... until now ... so says Mexico. According to a Mexican official and the film's producer, a new doc on the Mayan civilization will reveal proof that the Mayans had contact with an alien race not of this planet.

"Mexico will release codices, artifacts and significant documents with evidence of Mayan and extraterrestrial contact, and all of their information will be corroborated by archaeologists," according to a statement made by producer Raul Julia-Levy, son of actor Raul Julia (via The Wrap). So what kind of evidence are we talking about? Are there alien bones? A road map from some distant planet? Probably not, as it looks like most of their proof lies in the translations of "certain codices" that have been hidden underground by Mexican officials for a long time.
