A small demo to show some ideas for stretching, strengthening the lower basin kua area and springing the waist. Followed by basic Yue Jia San Shou for understanding mechanics, body structure, qin-na and flow of both people. Yue Family style has a unique approach to controling and flowing, with heavy influences in usage of what today is considered internal/external arts. As always these skills and Qin na or chin na are tools in ones arsenal of tools. I hope everyone enjoys objectively.

  • Mike Martello is the man! He's the real deal. There are many people in the US that are venerated as "masters" and have no clue of body mechanics, breath, intention, alignment - nothing.

Laoshr Martello puts all these guys to shame.

  • Koryuhoka... Thank you for such a kind comment and compliment, but really I am not yet good at all... I have so much to train for myself, I always see room for improvements... And thats the best part, never ending training... thanks mikemartello

  • jigga how

  • arbizm, haha, Zhege Hao !

  • can this be done when you're not that flexible? are these for advanced practioners only? or can any newbie go for them?

  • Darth, I would suggest NOT for beginners... First the body must be prepared by basic stretching and lengthening of muscles and tendons (tendons barely stretch like muscles). Then Strengthening and agility are exercised... Be careful and train to live long... mikemartello

  • ya for dancing :D, i dont think he's training the same thing

  • both fantastic videos pal, great stretches, fantastic warm up for Shotokan too.. :D

  • bouncing during stretching leads to permanent damage and injury

  • if you bounce at all you create little tears in the muscle eventually causing them to rip, you go as far as you can hold it for 10 seconds and try going further, thats a safer way of streatching

  • I don;t think it's useful to be so doctrinaire about the supposedly right and wrong methods of stretching. There are a lot of different methods--static, dynamic, passive, pnf, resistance stretching, etc.--and they all can point to examples of people who've been very successful using that particular method. Obviously, the late sifu Martello's methods worked extremely well for him, because he had phenomenal flexibility.

  • dude they been training since wen they were little im sure they know alot more than u and all of us!

  • Man, he died? He replied to a message I sent him on YouTube asking about stretching progression and he was so nice and seemed like a very patient teacher! RIP
