Djomula | Saltwater Band | 2007 Telstra Art Award

This is Djomula (whistling tree, Casuarina sp.) from Saltwater Band's first album Gapu Damurrung'. The song speaks of the 4 winds which blow on the tree causing it to 'cry'.

This is one of my favourite songs by Saltwater Band, very easy to listen to and one that gets the feet tapping. The melody is tuneful, Geoffrey's vocal work with those soaring high notes remarkable. And that reggae beat, who wouldn't want to dance to that!
