FRENSWOOD ACADEMY (season2) CH. 13 part 1 (A Jonas Story)

Haley's butt barely brushed the seat of the living room couch before Bridget started talking to her

"so here's the update on the Joe situation. As of tonight we are no longer a no flirt zone"
"uh-huh" Haley said wearily, already settling into the role of silent listener that she frequently found herself in when talking to Bridget

"that's right. We are now a full flirt and possibly one day snogging zone again"
"uh-huh"
"it's been a month since he declared his 'good intentions' with me" Bridget said, using air quotes "and now look at us Hales, were coming back with a vengeance"
"uh-huh"
"it's destiny is what it is. Even when he doesn't want to, he's still drawn to me"
"uh-huh"

"I predict by this time next week, when we'll be doing our tango at the competition, he'll be all mine"
"uh-huh"
That last unenthusiastic 'uh-huh' was especially dull and made Bridget realize for the first time since she'd started her one sided conversation that Haley wasn't really paying attention.

Cocking her head to the she looked intently at Haley as she spoke "and that's how I got pregnant"
"uh- Wait. WHAT?!" Haley said, snapping out of her daze
"oh look, it's alive" Bridget said with sarcasm
"sorry, I was just thinking about some other stuff but don't worry I heard everything you said"
"look at me, taking over the conversation like that when you probably need to talk about something yourself." Bridget readjusted herself so she was facing Haley head on, her body leaning in her direction to show all her attention was on her "so what's on your mind Hales"

Haley was shocked by the change in roles and being new to the position, she was a bit hesitant at first "well, as always, the whole Kevin and me thing"
"oh yeah you had a date tonight right?"
"uh" Haley looked down at herself, she was still wearing her dark purple off the shoulder dress and gold stilettos "yeah, isn't it kinda obvious"
"oy. No back talk when I'm trying to be there for you"
"sorry"

"well how'd it go then?" Bridget asked
"uh, it....went"
"oh no" Bridget scooted closer to Haley and pulled her into a hug "you didn't cry did you?"
"when?" Haley asked confused and showing it
"when he broke up with you again. I mean that's what happened right? That's what's got you all down"
"no I didn't cry Bridget" Haley said as she pushed her way out of Bridget's tight hug

Bridget gave in and released her "good, the last thing you want is for him to know he-"
"I didn't cry because he didn't break up with me"
Bridget drew back "oh. Then why the heck are you thinking about the two of you with that frowny face look"
"because...." Haley took a moment to collect her thoughts "because.... Okay here's the deal. The evening was all perfect right, a nice dinner at that new French bistro that opened downtown...."
Bridget nodded encouragingly
"then we snuck onto a school playground and ha a competition to see who could swing highest, I lost but only because of the dress. Seriously who made this thin-"

"Haley" Bridget said in a warning tone
"right, back to the story. So we were done with our little competition and were just sitting on the swings talking. Then out of nowhere Kevin goes 'so what are you thinking of doing after school?' "
Bridget's eyes bugged out and her mouth hung open "whoa"
"yes! Exactly! Whoa is right."
"so what'd you say?" Bridget was really getting into this now

"well I told him I don't really know yet what I'm going to do. Which is really bad too because we're both graduating this year" Haley said
"yeah. Then what'd he say"
"he said that he was thinking of getting a small place in New York..."
"okay, what's so bad about that?"
"and he wanted to know if I'd ever consider moving to the states...."

Bridget stood up from the couch, forgetting her tired feet
"Holy shit Hales. He cant be serious."
"he seemed pretty serious to me"
"he basically just asked you to move in with him after high school!"
Haley nodded "I know!"
"so did you let him down easy then? Tell him about our plan to find a small place downtown for you, me and Alexandria"
"......well...." Haley said slowly

"HALEY TRISCOTT!"
"I told him I'd think about it." Haley said, examining a piece of lint on the couch so she wouldn't have to see Bridget's shocked expression
