  • Thousands of hours of practice can make anything look easy. Start building those hours NOW!

  • Over the years many have helped me. Now it's pay-back time.

  • I ignor negative comments, and I beg the writers to not watch my videos. I don't want to damage their delicate brain wiring with sights that might short circuit something. For those who like my work, I welcome you to enjoy it. As to layers, I just say do as many as it takes to get the effect you want. Sometimes I want the canvas to show through for an effect. There is no law against it.

  • I use every tool I can find to do the best job possible. I have never had a client complain about how I make a painting that they love.

  • You must enjoy what you are doing, or you should be doing something else. That's the only way you will ever become good at what you're doing. I enjoy painting and teaching, therefore I'm better at them than many others. When people react to what I do in a positive way, then I know what I do is right. That's a great feeling. Thanks.

  • Thanks for the compliment. Producing these short videos is quite time consuming, so I can't do them as often as I would like, but there will be more as time permits.

  • You make it look so easy.. :(

  • Thank you for this!

  • You're a pro :) Thank you!

  • Thanks for taking the time to make this. Really inspiring.

  • oh, and I would like to ask, some artists paint portraits without underpainting, do you do that sometimes? I've started to learn oil painting myself, my first painting of a cherry, was not too bad. I did a very light underpainting with turps. And the second , which is the last layer was with 50% turp 50% linseed oil, but afterI blend the colours, I can see a bit of the original canvas colour. So I wonder is one, or two layers are not enough?

  • Mr Rudley, your work is amazing, exquisite. Forget about those who gave negative, stupid comments. Those are just some dumb ass who have no idea how hard and time consuming it is to draw and paint. Thank you very much for this tutorial, it's very useful! And you took the time to reply to comments, you're very kind :)
