A promo trailer for the first season of Stargate Universe.
Produced before the final Destiny Stargate design was revealed, this video is also intended to promote the Stargate franchise.

As Part of a project at University, I created this for one of my assignments. Obviously there are clips spliced in from the first promo which SciFi themselves aired (which at the time was the only one out when I made this video). Other than the video clips; the entire Stargate model, the Sci-Fi Logo and animation it makes at the start of the video as it swirls in, the Stargate Kawoosh, Stargate Puddle Event Horizon and camera animation is all my own work. The Sci-Fi animation swirl is just a small touch, but I wanted to be as authentic as possible.
This was made before anyone knew what the SGU gate looked like, so I took a guess (and was correct) with the white chevrons - (albeit not the final design look of them). To that end, it is my intention that when the animation finishes and the Gate swipes past the camera - that I will replace this with the front of the actual looking SGU gate design and symbols. I will also probably tighten up a few shots to do with the Kawoosh, but University deadlines forced me to complete it to the current standard.
For some reason, Uploading it to youtube makes it somehow darker. It isn't this dark on my copy in reality. I will try a better copy in future.
Hope you all enjoy!
y would u use the milky way gate instead of the destiny gate

@st3wart69er
Please realise that this was designed as part of a University project back in May 2009. The Destiny Stargate design hadn't been revealed at that point, let alone the colour of the chevrons - so the white chevron flash at the end was my own choosing. I gambled on what I thought it might be.
Also, the idea was that the Milky-Way Stargate would be dialing TO the Destiny Stargate - so from a production POV, it made sense to show the audience something which they are familiar with.

That was pretty good, thought this was pumped out by SciFi for a minute there. Good job.

@Tris2006 Thank you very much. :-)
I tried my best to make it as authentic as I could for the assignment.

Why did they only dial 7 chevrons?

The dial out wasn't meant to be representative of dialing the Destiny, more to indicate to the average casual viewer what was involved in dialing a Stargate. It also gave me a chance to show the 'off' state of the chevrons besides those which were switched on for texturing reasons - since this was produced for an assignment project. I made sure I got all 9 chevrons lit up at the end for visual effect and dramatic reasons. I just chose to do it like that, primarily for the project. :-)
