  • ok i dont really get the whole "jumping out of a plane" thing

  • @playa2hot1 A Smokejumper

is a wildland firefighter that Parachutes into a remote area to combat Wildfires, The ordinary risk of a parachute jump, the adverse conditions for the jump, and the lack of resources for firefighting and rescue once on the ground in a remote area give smokejumping a reputation as exceedingly dangerous work. !!

  • @664FREEDOM Typical smokejumper fires are small (under several acres), isolated, and in mountainous or very remote terrain.

Once on the ground, smokejumpers normally use hand tools such as pulaskis (a combination ax and mattock),

shovels, chainsaws and portable pumps to attack the fire.

If their initial attack fails, reinforcements can be called in, such as engine crews, hotshots, and local handcrews.

  • good video I saw my friend gabe pomona aka Ten bears and robert Dotson of the big bear Hotshots ! its a good crew I know I used to be a Captain there.

  • Thanks for your comment on the video.

  • wow, there really is stuff on youtube with integrity in comments. I like your video. I am looking to change my career into a wildland firefighter this summer in Nevada. Wish me luck. It looks like my kind of thing!

  • Air support was to save your ass! Water drops with fire retardant were a blessing when dropped directly on you. Fought and survived when some didn't. My hat is off to the pilots that saved me more than once. I'm 51 years old, no water except what was in your canteen. No food for days and no air lift out. I fought with the USS Shenandoah military on one fire. They thought we were nuts and told me they would rather fight he enemy than a fire and they bailed. 5 men against all odds.

  • @664FREEDOM

Sorry to tell you, ground crews were not available, maybe now days. Not when I was a fire fighter. Stitched up my own wounds and fought for several days without sleep. Small fires, BS. Mineral Mountain complex and Yellowstone were my credits. Lost 4 crew members and yet people just watch the news and don't know what really goes into this trade. My scars are all I have to my witness of my time spent. Remind me I made it out and bow my head to my fallen brothers.

  • @664FREEDOM

Been there done that. Still wish this old body could.
