Hazel had been having problems supporting herself with her back legs. In labor, she lay down. That's not the best position for the work of labor and delivery. We helped her back up, supported her with an alpaca sling, and helped slide the baby, Tulip, out a little bit earlier. This video is when she labored on her side.

  • This would be good for expectant mothers to watch.

  • @Nickidewbear -- Yikes! I think maybe we should have teens and preteens watch it, to keep them from becoming sexually active too soon - but once someone's pregnant, this might make them anxious unnecessarily. Most kidding goes smoothly, and most goats don't holler like Hazel did. She's a complainer, that one. ;-)

  • @lanwanfan Meanwhile, maybe this could be used in sexual education classes. As you said, "to keep them from becoming sexually active too soon - but once someone's pregnant, this might make them anxious unnecessarily." Maybe the possible anxiety would make them think twice.

  • The majority of my goats kid laying down. I've only had a few out of them all that stood through labor. But I have had them lay down for one kids delivery and stand for another.
