@ComputerJA & 136dominic That is Correct. there are also 240 blue coins all up in the game, meaning there are 24 Shine sprites from the Blue coin guy and 96 in the rest of the game.

For every 10 blue coins, if my memory doesn't fail me, you can give away to receive a shine. You can do the exchange that weird white house right before you transport to Ricco Harbor in Defino Plaza.
