So I've kinda ditched the idea (at least for a while) of using it especially after my integrated (the one which came with the mobo) soundcard blew up prolly because of the mixer.
Awwrighty! I happen also to have an actual microphone designed for studio-like recording so I if I weren't so lazy I'd use it. Mic goes to a mixer and mixer is plugged into the computers line-in. I've recorded couple videos on YouTube with that method (the straight record from webcam thing allows you to use the mic plugged to line in) and it has worked but finding the right recording levels, the position and angle of the mic have been a huge issue.
too bad the camera doesn't do justice to this nice amp :)
if you have an option to set manual audio level then use that. you can hear this compressor / auto level thing on many many videos here on youtube. especially when people are talking in between their playing, their talking kind of fades in because the audio level was automatically adjusted by the camera to record the cranked amp.. .then when one stops playing and starts talking cam needs to readjust. therefore, a "fade in" can be heard.
