Being raised in Appalachia around the Coal Camps moonshine was a common practice and a way of life for many of us. Especially those of us who worked in the coal mines. Moonshining was a means of supplementing our income. The miner's pay was slim to say the least. As the saying goes, I owe my soul to the company store. I wrote this song to honor the coal miners and moon shiners, especially my father-in-law.
thank you for your kind comment, a lot of the miners who settled in our little mountain community came from Wales...some of the decendants are still there...you can find more about our area, just look up Fratersville and Briceville, Tennessee on the net....kindest regards, Tony
