This was my 1st Amateur Muaythai Fight at Tanglin CC, I am the one in Blue representing CA. Took up this fight 1month after converting from boxing to Muaythai. Did JKD for quite some time, hence the frequent use of the Straight Lead Punch.

Lost hands down to my opponent from BXG who was much better at clinchwork and knees. The knees took out my heart to fight but somehow managed to come back in the last few seconds of Rd 3 with a knock down.

Interestingly, Red corner won in all 11 bouts that night!

Constructive criticism is welcome!

  • You did well for such short notice. I think If had a little more time in the 3rd you might have finished him. Thanks for posting!

  • Dont think it would have been possible. Both of us were shagged out by then! Thanks for popping by! Am a great fan of your jkd instructionals. Especially like the 'modified' hook kick. Its the same way my instructor teaches it.

  • i did taekwondo in the past..but somehow my legs are always dead in a fight... they refuse to move much even back when i was doing taekwondo...

  • He went knee crazy lol but you did real good nice left hand at 8:09.

  • Good knockdown.

  • Good effort Gabe. You nailed him a few times with the straight lead while he's throwing his rear round kick. Also noticed you managed to get into the "corner" position but could not maintain it.

  • u should work on your footwork. ur techniques requires some polishing.

  • You should try to know something about what you're talking about before you try giving advice. Ripping a page off wikipedia doesn't cut it. TKD...LOL!

  • good fight

  • An application would be to learn to attack with power and timing from the distance and you'll have slugger-types neutralize, their clinch techniques will prove futile since they couldnt even get near you. Try taekwondo which uses the legs(which is by nature longer than the arm) modify some of its moves or improve your core muscles to generate more power. Try observing fighters like George St. Pierre(UFC) or Mikro cro cop(Pride). These fighters eat slugger-types alive, enjoy fighting!
