The once-powerful Rome--rotten to the core by the fifth century--lay open to barbarian warriors who came in wave after wave of invasion, slaughtering, stealing, and ultimately, settling. As chaos replaced culture, Europe was beset by famine, plague, persecutions, and a state of war that was so persistent it was only rarely interrupted by peace.

  • @zondrah89 Civilization is a legacy we all share as humans. No civilization can claim superiority, only a contribution. The west is just as viable and legitimate as the east and vice versa.

  • @zondrah89 Until recently, about 400ACE . East and west were mostly equal. The first books were written in India before there was an East vs West. Interaction with another culture DID bring Europe out of the Dark Ages but only because of exposure to classical WESTERN documents which had, in their time brought up those Muslim cultures which had kept them alive. Aristotle and Socrates brought Europe out of the Dark Ages, who were westerners. Homo Sapiens are the true master race.

  • Of interest, the survival from the plague was in England correlated with the presence of a mutation that has subsequently been related to the development of an AIDS drug!

  • @zondrah89 They were not exactly kindly disposed, those Native Americans. The tribes killed each other ruthlessly. Viciousness is the prime characteristic of humanity more than 500 years ago.

  • @quantico80 Because she reminds you of Evita Peron?

  • What a beautiful story! Theodora is a wonder.

  • @quantico80 Its because she is.

  • Why do I find Theodora rather attractive and hot?
