I LOVE Yusuf?Cat Stevens, but this? He has relentlessly refused to involve himself in politics, (other than causes like Paul McCartney's landmine project), but this song both moves away from that philosophy and begins again to be divisive. I despise killing helpless people, but it is happening to all kinds of people around the world. Muslims (including me!) don't have the corner on that market

@wingseclipsed Hi! Not sure what your trying to say, maybe you can clarify it. But I think it is wrong to assume Yusuf has become completely 'political'.I think its a matter of human rights. If people deserve to be treated fairly in a dictatorship, then there is no 'political' reasoning to be against this, but more of a human reason. I'd say, he's just being human and stopping what he thinks shouldn't happen. Tc. Peace.

@PeaceTrainFan OK- What I meant is that Yusuf sees himself as a bridge to understanding with the West and East. But here by obviously singing about Muslims only. Yes you can apply it to anyone, but we know who he refers to here. I'd hate to see ppl thinking he was divisive in this. Most Americans anyway, think almost all Muslims are from the Middle East. Just a fleeting thought and not worth writing here about!

@wingseclipsed I understand what your trying to say. However, with all due respect, Yusuf has always done his best in the past to write songs for great causes. Like the one he did for the Tsunami in Indonesia. Its ironic to say but most of the problems are from places that have affected some muslims (like the tsunami, middle east conflict and these revolutions), however he also has a charity organisation called small kindness that helps people from all countries. We cant say he's only there...

to help all the muslims but just know if there is a crisis anywhere Yusuf would try and do as much as he can to help. For example he played at a concert last month for an organisation called 'peace one day'. It was great to be at the concert an organisation that supports everyone in the name of peace. I hope I haven't offended you, its just that I think some may see Yusuf only caring for muslims, but its not completely true. He has sung for unicef in the late 70's for eg. He has a good heart
