This video covers basic malfunction drills for semi-auto pistols like the Glock and others. We cover simple failure to fire, failure to extract, failure to eject and failure to feed. These are simple things any semi-auto shooter should know.

  • Question about the failure to extract. I have a Smith and Wesson M&P 9mm, a high quality full frame gun on par with the Glocks from all I have read. I have about 2000 rounds through it, and when using the cheepo's from wallyworld for target practice, I have had casings both fail to eject and have expanded in the barrel or something. I had to dig them out with my swiss army knife. SHFT and this happens, would removing the clip, forcing the slide to close *Didn't on mine* and racking it work?

  • @vulpixgrant It should work. Even cheap rounds should extract if the extractor is intact and the spring is good. Ejecting is another issue. Generally, if the round is still in the chamber and has not come out at all, the extractor may be weak or chipped. Inspect it or have a gunsmith check it. If it is failing to eject, or is coming out fo the chamber, but, not flying out of the weapon, that is different. Check the rims on the rounds to see if they are damaged. Hard to tell in this forum.

  • Great video man, real helpful. I'm a newbie and malfunctions always worry me at the range. I'm going to have the wife watch this video as well. Thank you sir.

  • @talontraininggroup - It only happened with the cheepo's from Wally world. And the Extractor and springs are good. The spent casings was getting stuck in the barrel, like they were expanding when fired. I literally had to dig them out with my knife to clear the chamber. Only happened that one time, took the gun out recently and put 200 rounds of White Box Winchester down the barrel without any incidents. Almost like how a .22 LR expands in a .22 Magnum cylinder when fired.
