Interview with Hon. Namal Rajapakshe MP, Hambantota

I, being an active sportsman and a sports lover, always had a dream of having a state of the art competition venue in my motherland. So it happens, and my native place, Hambantota came to the lime light purely due to its strategic locality. As a port Hambantota has been identified centuries ago.

Sports village concept was mooted and it was most appropriate to have the facility in rapid developing city instead of re-inventing the wheel.

We, as a nation very proud about our past achievements and presently showcasing Sri Lanka's unbelievable resources and its natural beauty to the entire world. Hambantota will be the 2nd city of Sri Lanka and the tourism hub in this Island nation in the near future with all these accelerated developments. Since we have already decided to build the sports village creating a legacy, it was feather on the hat to get the Commonwealth Games 2018.

We all Sri Lankans will look forward to hosting the games in 2018 and will create history by holding the first ever green Commonwealth Games. Let's go green and leave a better planet to our future generations.
