This particular build no longer works. The "Sand Shards" skill has been completely changed in an update and no longer deals damage on misses. The derv secondary still has some nice defensive skills to offer, but most derv skills only have 1/4s cast times to start with so they don't really benefit from the Mesmer's Fast Casting.

hmm, couldnt this be done with dervish primary instead?, higher damage, or do you need the fast casting to quickly spread epidemic?

I'm sure that a D/Me could farm with something this, but I don't have a PvE derv to test with. =P
At 12 Earth Prayers, Sand Shards is pretty effective as long as you have large number of mobs to "miss". Fast Casting helps immensely with the 3s cast on Spirit of Failure in this build, but Dervishes have other sources of energy management available. Physical Resistance and Res Sig are "Free Slots" that I change depending on the area. Mystic Regeneration is an excellent addition.
