This is Part Two of GKR's National Squad Kumite Curriculum.
This video deals with the first three techniques for our 'L' and 'R' defensive curriculum. 'L' standing for Lead hand or Lunge hand defence and 'R' standing for Rear hand or Reverse hand defence.
L1 - Lead hand blocking drills.
L2 - Adding go-no-sen (counter strikes), L2 involves the Lead hand blocking while the opposite hand counter strikes.
L3 - Adding sen-no-sen (simultaneous block and counter). L3 involves the Lead hand blocking as the opposite hand simultaneously counter strikes (sen-no-sen)
R1 - Rear hand blocking drills.
R2 - Adding go-no-sen (counter strikes), R2 involves the Rear hand blocking while the opposite hand (the lead hand) counter strikes.
R3 - Adding sen-no-sen (simultaneous block and counter). R3 involves the rear hand blocking as the opposite hand (the lead hand) simultaneously counter strikes (sen-no-sen)
L1 - Exercises where the lead hand develops
Go-no-sen is the Japanese term for counter strike. This 6 minute video highlights the Go-no-sen techniques of L4 through to L6 ('L' standing for Lead hand defences) and R4 through to R6 ('R' standing for Rear hand defences).
L4 - Lead hand blocks and then lead hand counter strikes.
L5 - Lead hand blocks, lead hand counter strikes, then a follow up counter is executed from the reverse hand or feet.
L6 - Lead hand blocks, and then the lead leg sweeps (ashi barai).
R4 - Read hand blocks and then same rear hand counter strikes.
R5 - Rear hand blocks, and then the same hand (the rear) counter strikes. This is then followed up with an extra counter strike from the leading hand or feet.
R6 - Rear hand blocks, and then the lead leg sweeps (ashi barai).
