I am NOT knocking down the Stones! I love the Stones, probably as much as you do. However, they served well in the era they were the most popular in, but as far as contributing to rock over all, you have give a nod to the Dolls.

Just follow the career path of the Stones and the Dolls. The Stones went from the "Greatest band in the World" to becoming almost a joke. The Dolls went from an almost joke as a local (NYC) ridiculed band to becoming legends. Even though you might see it differently.

I saw Morrissey in October and he played this video on a screen before he played. No one knew what the hell was going on, but I was losing my shit.

... That's an "almost joke", not "a Joke"! To answer your question, RS became an almost joke when they recorded Emotional Rescue and Miss You, in order to catch up with the flow of the time.

And, for all of you SP fans. At least Johnny didn't end the sorry way Sid Vicious did.

Nachuak, you seem to know quite a lot about that 70's NYC scene. As the one who'd been there and participated in it, I can tell you without any doubt, that NONE of us of NYD's friends or fans called them a bunch of fags!!!
