Aa very loose adaptation of Marvel Comics character The Thing, consisted of stories following the Thing as a teenager named Benjy Grimm who transforms into the rock-skinned superhero by touching together magic rings and reciting the words Thing ring, do your thing!

Why the heck didnt he push the truck! It would have been far easier and resulted in no property damage! Then again he is just a kid so I doubt he thought things through that thoroughly.

The opening for the overall show (Fred and Barney Meet The Thing, that is, not just the Thing segments) shows Kelly and her father trying to cure the Thing (i.e., turn him back into the adult Ben Grimm), but accidentally turn him into a teenager instead.  One episode involved them trying to cure him again (and having him spend the entire episode randomly changing from Benji to the Thing), but ended, of course, with the status quo intact.

@RatBatSpiderCrab One has to keep in mind, that because marvels efforts to get their shows on saturday morning were derailed for 10 solid years, they were very desperate back then, to get their shows back on the air. They compromissed their standards greatly.Their 1970s efforts, are most painful to watch.

i watched these during the time it aired. corny? yes. fun ? yes. will i watch it again i still watch it. tv today SUCKS. so i'll stick to stuff i now i enjoyed and still do. i think i'll cancel dish net or who ever is trying run the tv air waves.

@hulkster46a Yeah it sounds like in this article from The Kirby Collector 55 called 'Hollywood Connections' that this particular Thing show was run in a halfassed crapshoot style manner "This Thing's tenure wasn't as solid as a rock. The show was re-titled 'Fred And Barney Meet The Schmoo' after producers quickly shuffled in Al Capp's gurgling blob"

@cha5 The only good thing too come from this cartoon was that they used Jack Kirbys artwork has the basis for The Thing in this show. Other then that, I don't remember much of anything else on the series.
