  • I came here because he was on made :D

  • Illmatic is still >>>>> 95% of the shit out right now... you can say "fuck the 90's" or it sounds "dated" but dudes are trying to create their own lane and just failing right now. It's not entirely their fault... Evolution and progression doesn't always = good...especially when music and culture are becoming more homogeneous by the moment. So when you say "fuck the 90's", in regards to hip hop, you are pretty much saying "Fuck Hip Hop" ....I think a new genre title is in order lol

  • mannn Im kinda diggin this style.. an he can spit too.. I like the positive influence and motivation; I stumbled upon this... maybe im a dum aff but I know ALOTTTTTTT of music an never heard of dude, am I wrong, please... POLIETELY inform me if so

  • @MDIGENNARO I'm not discrediting Dilla's post 2k work. It was amazing. As was many other artists in 2k....But even today we totally removed from the quality of music that was being made in early 2k. I dig PLENTY... And the key word you said is "DIG".. In the 90's you didn't HAVE to dig like you do today... Maybe a lot of it has to do with the advent of the internet but I digress. I think there is a lot more garbage to week through and the scene is dead.

  • @TheJewelChest Madlib might be the only one really REALLY 2k..but he was doing histhing with lootpack in the 90's... Doom with KMD in 1991...

  • Oh yea... Doom, Madlib, Heiro and Tribe.... All 90's

  • @TheJewelChes

Sry now you're starting to show some ignorance. Dilla did a lot more than cut his teeth. This dude continued to evolve as an artist until he passed away. Have you listened to DONUTS? & Finesse came out with a straight CLASSIC in 89 called "Funky Technician" Com on now..Show & AG came out with "Soul Clap" at around that time. Gangstarr came out with "No More Mr Nice Guy" around that time as well. And there's a LOT of good stuff coming out right NOW. Stop being Lazy & Dig.... =)

  • @MDIGENNARO Dilla is my favorite artist programming wise!! But he still cut his teeth in the 90's..Love the 80's too. DITC was not 80's though...they were 90's..Unless you want to claim Lord Finesse..but still D.I.T.C was 90's more than anything.Groups like EPMD and Gang Starr were on the cusp of the 90's.Especially Gang Starr... Gang Star was 90's all the way brah. I like a few new artists like T.Shirt, Mr. Mf'n eXquire, Action Bronson....Kendrick Lamar is OK...Other than that? Ehh

  • @TheJewelChest

Hip Hop ISN'TDEAD...Stop the Nonesense! Maybe in your little world it is, but not where I sit. I discover new ill artists almost EVERY DAY. Hip Hop is Dead...for you maybe.

Your idea of what it "should be" is stuck in 1 era (1 box). The 90's were GREAT but, guess what! So were the the 80's! (Ultra, PE, BDP, JB's X-CLAN, GANGSTARR, Rakim, EPMD, DITC, Bambaataa, and on and on...) and the 2000's (Dilla,DOOM, MADLIB, Heiro, TCQ, and on and ON) were outstanding.

  • @MDIGENNARO Hip Hop IS dead...and at the very best it's on life support. Niggas in the 90's were better across the board. There is MUCH more trash Hip Hop today then ever and when you have 80% of an industry claiming that label and they are bastardizing it..yes, it is dead. Nobody said there are NO good artists NOW.There are several. But make no mistake the 90's is HOME to Hip Hop... That magic will never be recaptured for several reasons. Some things just are... 90's holds the CROWN

  • @TheJewelChest

Fuck that shit. I'm soo tired of this whole "hip hop is dead" mentality. There's a lot of bullshit out (never changed) but there's a whole lot of ill shit out there as well. Illmatic was dope but it's time to move on.
