This is a group of outtakes and snippets from the session that yielded The Cumpleet Foke Gytarest. I hope it will be of special interest to folks who have studied guitar with me and/or attended my classes and workshops. I am using ideas that are touched on in my Atomic Guitar presentations...rhythmic displacement, pattern permutations, phasing and so on. It is my aim to beguile the ear and to inspire others to pursue patterning ideas that have barely been plumbed. I used a looper in this case to create a reference loop. It's the berimbau-sound that pops up throughout. All of the phasing was done within the patterns in real time. Loop-phasing is also a strong area of pursuit for me, but not in this case. My love for filtering is obvious, but these ideas also work very well with more straight-ahead acoustic and electric sounds. A little delay was used in a couple of the later segments.
