One of my favourite all-time ads.

Most of this advert was filmed in Cumbria !!! Beautiful !

I revisit this ad from time to time for the Christmas feeling that it evokes.
Every time there seems to be a new comment about what's going on with the Chinook.
Lighten up people. This is an ad, to encourage people to shop at Waitrose for their Christmas goodies.
Does it matter whether the guy is a soldier an oil worker or a photographer. He's not real! The idea is to portray the need for all to get home to be with their loved ones for the festive season.

Waitrose and John Lewis Ads are amazing. As I was watching this one I did reflect on an almost depressing fact : That adverts like this are far more watchable, entertaining and uplifting than the majority of production programmes that the ads are supposed to punctuate.

I absolutely love this advert, it sums up waitrose in 1 minute. caring! Maxlogica, i suggest you look deeper into the principles of this advert! it is not glorifying the fact that british soldiers are DOING THEIR DUTY out in the middle east! it is stating the fact that family morals are important in todays society, and besides, you cannot conclude your uneducated comments from what you see here without knowing the true story. I myself am a partner for waitrose, so i know what they stand for!
Maxlogica... before you continue to jump to your uneducated conclusions, let me inform you off something; The soldier in question, featured in this advert, was landing in a Chinook, thats a helicopter! Now do we fly to America in helicopters? No! Furthermore, If he was returning from Iraq, after and I quote "after he has murdered thousands of iraqi and afghan women and children" he'd be wearing desert camouflage... not a green outfit! If you find British institutions so offensive, don't stay here

Romantising war? You're referring to just one scene in the whole advert. And besides, how does a person getting off a military helicopter romanticise war? Its a Supermarket, not a mouthpiece for the government.
