The girl is hurting. We can't ever expect that a person under 25 is emotionally capable. We do things to kids and people that are vulnerable and expect them to have a mature and grown up response. That is just ridiculous. The girl needs a lot more love to cure this. And once you create these terrible memories even if you try to repair the mistakes you have committed against them, the moment you falter they will go into protective mode.
