This tutorial covers an effective rebuild of the disc drive in a Sony SCPH-30001 PlayStation 2 to resolve the "Dirty Disc Error" problem that can happen with these machines.

Why can't i use WD-40? and what happens if I do use it? I can't find those grease anywhere

The problem with WD-40 is that it will evaporate, which will allow mechanical binding to occur again.

You can try to use clean engine oil as that will not evaporate as readily and should not cause a mess provided that you don't use too much. Just apply enough to dampen the tip of a cotton swab and then apply the oil through the swab to the slider posts and to the worm gear shaft of the kicker motor.

@Watcher3223 Ah thanks, I will use motor oil cause I wiped the slider posts clean then realized I didn't have any of those grease lol. Now whenever the PS2 reads it makes grinding noises, thanks again.

You're welcome.

But, remember, use the oil sparingly. You don't need to use much.

my dvd game of my ps2 30001 cant read and the CD has a circular mark..may be the top of the laser touched my cd.can u help me pls..

What caused the circular mark and has it occurred on any other discs?

There should be a dark colored clip on the receptacle. On each side of this clip should be tabs. Gently pull on both tabs until it snaps open.

Insert the terminated end of the cable, conductor side facing down, fully into the receptacle as far as it will go and then push the two tabs on the clip in to lock the connection in place.
