LOVE this song and have since it first came out. Outrageously wonderful stuff...(Hi, Dan from Lorraine in Marin)...just SO good.

Incredible version of "I Scare Myself."
Saw Dan and the original Licks on the Ark in '68 or '70 (what... am I supposed to remember?!) He / they were great then. Even better now.

Thanks!
You wouldn't happen to know what town she lives in would you? I ask because we lived in the redwood country for several years where there is quite a bit of blues action and small recording studios, etc. We lived in Fortuna, which is just south of Eureka right on the coast. We have a friend who is Mark Ford's cousin. He signed a c.d. for me a while back. Her uncle has a recording studio and plays blues himself. Robben and his brothers are from Ukiah I believe.

@fairlyfast : if you mean Sherri Snow and Christina Gancher, no, I don't. If you mean Maryann Price and Naomi Eisenberg, which is what people usually mean when they refer to the Lickettes, Maryann is living in Austin, where's she's been for years, and still performs occasionally. Naomi is still living and performing in northern California; she also has her own Youtube channel--naomivice.

I bought their first album and practically wore it out - then went through a divorce, my life took a big turn for the worse and music unfortunately went along with it for too many years. It was great seeing this video! Does anyone know what happened to the original "Lickettes?"
-
@woodsbike You need to the know the history of the "Lickettes" to understand their get-up. They always perform in a campy sort of style. It's part of the unique quality of the band.

Poor Dan - Them superfluous chicks in the shades must think that they're performing at the goddamn Ark or Austin City Limits or something. LIke "The Zoo" on Eight Mile. I'll bet that if there was a pole...
Great tune and great performances, nonetheless - thanks for posting this!

Classic and wonderful Mr. Hicks!

I love this. But I don't like the way the new Lickettes camp it up. It's actually one of the very few very serious damn songs Dan has done...

About the date: Woodsongs doesn't list dates in their archives, but play the vid, & 2004 appears in the copyright data at the bottom of the player.
You'd think Dan might get bored & maybe render a routine performance after 30+ years of this song (my *absolute* favorite by far of all DH&HL songs, BTW), but this was probably as fresh as his first performance. And I really didn't think anyone could replace the great Sid Page on violin for this, but this guy did a fine job!
I loved this!!

Oh I missed that!
Now it's not heard in stereo unless you add &fmt=18 to the URL.
yootoob keeps changing how vids are presented, upload size allowed, & best formats to use.
I could reupload this but anyone interested should really go to the Woodsongs archive & get the whole show! It's no charge!
Dan is a great showman, and I think the violin and guitar player in this video are still touring with him.

lotsa really good free stuff in the archive including shows with Jorma Kaukonen, David Bromberg, Roger McGuinn, Ritchie Havens, Melanie, Bela Fleck, an entire tribute show of Rev. Gary Davis stuff, and lots and lots more, worth checkin out IMHO
