  • Yet i notice Hockey tried to take credit for the 50 Billion Dollar deal. Saying we did a lot to get that through. Maybe, pitty Hockey can't say the same on the Stimulus, or on the ETS, afterall they had years to do something. Now just like the Stimulus that saved us the Libs say NAY. This time its not about saving Australia though, its about saving the world. And what does Senator Heffernan do, stick his middle finger up saying Screw you.

  • True Mr Slugger. The Stimulus was supposed to be doom and Gloom. Australia is the only Western country recording growth at present. And we just signed off on a 50 Billion Gas deal with china. Thank God Whitlam kept Pollitical ties with China all those years ago, and Rudd speaks Chinese. If we listened to the Likes of then Treasurer Howard who was against China ties we would be stuffed now. China is bailing us out. Yet if we listened to Howard and Co who called it siding with the Reds, Ruination

  • still don't get it malcom,we the people spoke, you lost. so do the right thing and pass the bill. if it's no good it can be modified at a latter date, and you would be vindicated..but so far you have been wrong on all fronts,so butt out and let the elected government get on with the job...

  • And malcolm keeps saying,"They won't work with us". Perhaps its because your not in power and do not make the decisions. You were voted out remember!. And the Iraq ARSE kisser Howard (NO WMDs), and Kyoto do nothing even lost his own seat. We the people spoke and said NO MORE.

  • Hey i agree. The Libs do it time and time again. Play Politics with important issues because the senate usually in a Labor Govt is split so they can. The attitude is screw important issues lets score a point or two. Maybe thats what Heffernan was doing. Showing Labor the Score with his Finger. Ha Ha ha. He is a Moron waste of space. I remember him being chased on the Gillard Barren coment by the press laughing like a School Girl. Its just a game to that Taxpayer's money/perk stealer. IDIOT

  • Lets see how leafy Nth Shore Liberal residents of Sydney and Libs in Melbs Dandenongs go with the Libs inaction. When thier wealthy propertys burn from Climate change. I grew up in the Kinglake area as a Kid 35 years ago. I remember Sleet and Snow there. It never happens anymore. Tinder Dry thus 170+ people dead. Yep sit on your hands Libs kill more Aussies. Actually it would be a good thing if Heffernan sat on his hands. We don't want to see his Middle finger on an important issue again.

  • i couldn't agree more KT: it's an indictment that we stood by and had that stooge of a government + policy set for 12 years. and i agree, bill heffernan is about as qualified to be a senator as the bulldogs are to be role models for the youth. my point is merely to clarify certain misunderstandings about what an ETS is, and how it functions, which your otherwise agreeable response disregards entirely. Acting now on climate change is fundamental: the timing&knowledge is right, and an ETS evolves.

  • Well carseatparis if the LIBS had acted Ten years ago we might be starting now. Rather than following the Yanks on an ASS licking exercise in Iraq with NO WMDs. And again for Bill Heffernan to show his Middle finger in the Senate on such an important issue shows how the Libs really think. Heffernan is a goose, when will the Libs move that Idiot into retirement. The man is an Enviromental Vandal. I never forgot the day he called Lovely Julia Gillard "BARREN". how are those dinosours tolerated.

  • i cannot believe how ignorant all the commentors here are about the very principles of an ETS: tax scheme? are you insane? the very principle of an emissions trading scheme is that it's a *market-based mechanism* involving industry, commercial and financial participation in permit allocation and exchange. yes there is a cap, but it hardly comes into stringent effect until 10 years down the line, and still it is negotiated and incorporated into both management and industry strategy. wake up!

  • More taxes, THIEVES!

Mal, your priority is to get rid of current taxation system - a 1930s designed socialist theft system. NOT the green agenda which the media has been pumping for so long - BIASED MEDIA - gAyBC bias once again.
