  • First and last thing, when you refer to these great names please show some respect like mentioning them as Swapanji or Swapandaa or Zakirji. Learn to show respect

  • The amazing thing about listening to great Tabla maestros like Swapan Ji, Kumar Bose, Anindo Chatterjee, Zakir Ji plus many others in India - is that they all life your spirit when you hear them. Every time you hear each of them its awesome. We are just so lucky that we have such great Tabla players to listen to. Knowing each artist personally they respect each other. Its best to enjoy and cherish what each gives us.

  • Amazing Dhere Dhere by Panditji! Swapandaa is somewhat under acknowledged in my opinion. He is an amazing artiste. Kyaa Baat!

  • could you post the rest?

  • kya baat swapanji

  • Yeah Borgesson i see what u mean, Sapan has a very clear and crisp hand, which i dont see in Zakir. These things are subjective....I was at the Ali Akbar college back in the day, there Ali akbar khan was the man, where as I personally like Vasant Rais playing! its an idividual choice at the end

  • Indeed, Swapan may not be a good as Zakir Hussian however, he is a very good tabla player! And I agree artists should NOT be compared

  • great artisits both of them..

people need to stop argueing about who is better then who...that is irrelevant in music!

  • No it is not Zakir, and thanks to davebansajir you discovere an other great tabla player, swapan chaudhuri, one of the very best, but completely immerged in the tradition, not a lot of funcky tabla for him, that is the reason why he is less aknowledged by the occidental audience.

    What a dhira dhira !!
