Camping
Hello - It's Greg again. I hope all is well with you in your part of the world. My life is pretty good right now.
I"m on a motorcycle road trip with my brother Daniel. We started in Yakima, Washington and are heading to Southern California.
We're currently camping in Newport, Oregon, which is on the Pacific Coast. Camping is a very important part of the American culture and will be our focus for this lesson.
There are a lot of ways to camp. You can backpack to remote areas on foot, by horse or mule. Or you can take your family on an RV trip.
You can bring a lot of gear (backpacks, sleeping bags, tints, chairs, pots and pans, utensils, etc.) or you can bring no gear and rough it.
We chose to make it simple and bring just the essentials.
We have sleeping bags to keep us warm at night, two tarps to protect us from rain and our two Harley motorcycles to get us from Washington to California, which is about one thousand miles one way.
One phrase I love saying when camping is "Does a bear shit in the woods?" This phrase is used after someone asks a question where the answer is obviously "yes."
The two foods I eat while camping are hotdogs and smores. There's nothing better than roasting a hotdog over an open fire. A smore is made by heating up the marshmellow on a stick over the fire then combining it with gramcrackers and chocolate.
Does it taste good? Well, does a bear shit in the woods?
Camping is a great experience and I hope you get a chance to explore your surrounding areas soon.
Well, that's it for me today. I hope you enjoyed this. Of course, feel free to comment about this video and ask questions.
Or reach me on Skype at EnglishTeacher98 where we can swap camping stories. Of course, you also get a 20-minute English conversation for free.
Happy camping!
