what do you prefer? for surgical students to do their very first surgery on one of your relatives? medicine is called "practice." the pigs are anesthetized so they cannot feel what is going on. the next time you need medical care, think of the animals that have been sacrificed (for lack of a better word) so that you can enjoy the benifits of that medication or surgical proceedure... its a necessary evil if we're going to promote the medical treatments that are saving lives.

this is absolutely necessary training. There's no other way to produce skilled surgeons who will probably one day save someone you know. Pigs are anesthetized and treated as humanely as possible. If you are suggesting practicing on another human and possibly harming the human, then you should volunteer yourself.

true that many of what is known today in medicine came from experimentation, but we could also argue that Nazi medical experimentation was a great help to today's medicine. The problem is we are forced to see human pain as priority,and ignore the pain that other living beings feel during these practices. Practice of Medicine doesn't need to be done on animals,there are plenty of simulators that could teach suturing pts much better,if the objective is to improve surg. skills.

Yep, cry out about it and then go to the doctor and get your meds when you're sick. Hypocrits. Where the hell do you think a lot of medical knowledge came from? Animal testing is a major component in that. What other more humane way could they possibly do it? Can't do it on criminals because not all criminals that plead guilty are actually guilty. They just take the lesser sentence because they can't fight it.

@Creepyshmeegs WHO IS "EVERYONE" u? No the pig gets no vote because it is not human. If u just woke up human lives are valued more than any other animal. Not saying that purposeful mistreatment of any animal is good, but in order to save human lives; it is more than justified.
