Karel Gott sings Ivan Mladek's song
Lyrics: A E7 A E7
1. Na vodu už jezdím jenom s Vendou, s Vendou, A E7 A
do kanoe nevlezu už s Bendou, s Bendou, Hmi E7 A F#7

2. Jel jsem tuhle Ohři s Jendou Bendou, Bendou,
proč já, houska, nejel radši s Vendou, Vendou,
Jenda Benda sjel na vodu mělkou,
spáchal v lodi díru vel-, vel-, velkou,
já měl náladu zlou, von zničil keňu mou,
už nikdy, houpy hou, s ní nepopluji mhou,
tedy šetřím na novou, na laminátovou,
už ji chci mít v létě na dovolenou, -nou, -nou.

  • can somebody tell us, hungarians about that beloved gé(j)za gerendás? it's quite strange to see a hungarian in a totally czech band..

  • Yeah, can't tell you much. He's been part of czech culture at least since 70ies as a member of Mladek's Banjo Band, but he is an actor too - he played in cca 20 czech movies and even now, he is playing in a theatre. I was not aware that people in Hungary know him too ...

  • Someone can traslate and write the czech text for me pls?

  • See the video description. The meaning of the lyrics is not interesting itself. It is about water, which explains the behaviour of Karel and Gejza on the stage. I allways liked how Mladek empasized english words Yes, No and Well in totally czech song. Also rhymes "les, bez, pes, mez, rez, ves, jez" are quite interesting.

Prorok z tego Karla Gotta. Przewidział XXI wiek.

  • no entiendo

  • @bibi5027 Jez means sluice, weir, barrage, dam. The backer hasn't noticed that a sluice comes and "commited" a large hole in the boat.

  • About Ladislav Gerendáš - I m not sure if he has some hungarian ancestors, but it is true, that after WWII, many Magyars from southern Slovakia were moved (by the Czechoslovak government´s direction) away from their home and settled in northern Bohemia and so on, the intention was to weaken the Magyar influence in Slovakia (since the Magyars could not be expulsed as the Germans), so if Gerendáš was born in Karlovy Vary, maybe he is from that descent, but who knows...

  • @mauroalt ... The passed-by weir is followed by "solo on the tonsils in water" by Géza Gerendás and Karel Gott. :-)
