This is a beautiful redone edition of the old standard hymnal. I love the arrangement of this song.

  • Was Sallie Martin and Roberta Martin related in anyway.

  • No they were not related, Sallie Martin was born in Georgia and roberta Martin was from Arkansas. But as fate would have it, they both up in chicago around the same time and both end of becoming Gospel legends. Ain't that too funny. lol.

  • I saw a clip of an interview of Ms. Sallie and Ms Clara Ford and Ms. Sallie can hold her own and wasn't backing down. You can tell she was all about doing it right or not doing it at all.

  • Yea, you right. Sallie Martin was a force to be reckon with, she just didn't take no stuff from nobody.

  • Darneloh. you're so funny. lol. talking about the grandmother of gospel music. Moma sallie martin. lol. She was fiesty and she would tell what was on her mind. lol.

  • Yeah. kbolden07. that's a good one too, the live version. Where Sallie Martin was talking about all of her group wasn't there. She was real trip when she talked too. lol.

  • Mrsstanford4life, just a brief correction. The other lady in the video with Sallie Martin was Mother Willie Mae Ford Smith. She clearly was no slouch either but, she had a more calmer spirit than Sallie. They were both up in age at that time. I can appreciate both women but, it was also Sallie's attitude that eventually caused a parting of the waves with Dr. Dorsey. They didn't mend that rift until some time later beore they both went home to glory.

  • Wonderful! Hear how Sallie uses the riff from "Surely God is Able" ("mother for the motherless, etc."). Somebody should post "Working on a Building" by Joe May and the Sallie Martin Singers. Hear how Cora breaks her final note just to let you know that this is a joint effort between her group and Brother May. You're right. Priceless.

  • Yes I love that rendition too I love all their collabarations with Bro.May.
