@mynameisbloody Totally agree, a lot of it is related to the poverty and the enticement of an easy way to earn in a night what takes others a week. Thailand is far worse than most western 1st world countries, but as 3rd world countries go, it is pretty much run of the mill stuff.

But I can read statistics without living in the place they originate from, and estimates by government bodies and NGOs puts the number of prostitutes in Holland at up to 30,000 whereas the lowest estimates for Thailand are far more than that figure. It is considered reasonable that there are 200,000-300,000 prostitutes working in Thailand. You can live somewhere for years and not have a clue what is really going on. Or did you work for the WHO in both countries as well?

@camcoop25 So you have never lived in Amsterdam then? Funnily the journalists in Libya aren't getting the whole picture either. How you can even compare Thailand to Holland bewilders me! TOTALLY. BKK has no where near the IN YOUR FACE prostitution that Amsterdam has. But Amsterdam has nowhere near the in your face prostitution of Pattaya. Horses for courses. Believe what you like. I'm sure it will make you happy :) Visiting a country DOES NOT give you the whole experience, end of story.

Listen mate, I also have a Thai wife, have lived in Thailand for 18 years, and work as a journalist. I have visited Amsterdam three times, one of them on assignment regarding the sex industry there, so yeah, since we disagree and our "credentials" are similar, I'd say you do need to say more.
